About

Circadian was my second game project at TGA and this time we had to make a puzzle game for the phone. Our reference game was Laracroft Go but as usual, we wanted to add our own thing to the game that made it stand out. I came up with the idea that the player has a set amount of moves that you can make and you leave a trail behind you. At the time we weren't sure what the trail would do because it had so many possibilities. We settled for that the trail was a part of you that you left behind so you shrank in size the more you walked. For this project, I made the movement and the transition cutscene through the levels.

We had some difficulties at the beginning of the project. We wanted the player to pick up the trail when you walked over a trail once again but it made it impossible to lose the game. So we had to cut that idea and instead, you could move freely without losing moves when walking on the trail.

One other cool thing about this project is that it managed to win the “best mobile game 2023” at the Swedish Game Awards. One of the coolest things that happened to me in my GameDev Journey so far.
